I think Professional Learning Communities work really well if teachers/administrators come to the table with a positive attitude and a desire to learn from their colleages. I am always interested in what strategies my colleagues find effective, especially with regard to comprehension and vocabulary instruction. Personally, I use a lot of Fisher and Frey reading strategies and the Frayer vocabulary model. I agree that sharing ideas and collaboration is key to optimal teaching. Why should teachers reinvent the wheel?
